Senior Commercial Construction Superintendent

The Essentials:

ACG Builds, a mid-size general contractor specializing in mixed-use, apartment, tenant improvement, and senior living projects, is looking for a Senior Superintendent that can manage construction of a variety of tenant improvement projects. We Need Your Skills:

  • You have strong phone skills to communicate with subs and vendors. Be able to use the right balance between getting quick information by phone versus less timely bulk information transfers by email.
  • Be a Master motivator at getting things you need from subs when you need it. If you find yourself saying, “I’m still waiting to hear from so and so”, then this job will be challenging.
  • You are a results-oriented Super with strong directional skills to actively run meetings and command teams of people and make things happen.
  • You are a positive attitude get-it-done person and know how to be resourceful and quick thinking when labor or material conditions unexpectedly change.
  • You know how to balance the necessary job walk time with your teams and necessary office computer time.
  • Knowledgeable in building the building and general building assemblies, processes, and equipment to make sure the people actually doing the work are doing it right with the right means and methods.
  • Knowledgeable in tying in new MEPF infrastructure systems inside of an existing building for TI buildouts.
  • Work positively with owners and owners’ reps on issues, specification clarifications, and changes to find cost effective solutions
  • Walk the job frequently as needed to ask questions and make sure subs have what they need to ensure no schedule slips while checking to make sure work conforms to plans
  • Review shop drawings against plans and work with vendors to make revisions
  • Maintain 3-week look-ahead schedules in Microsoft Project for weekly owner meetings.

Best and Brightest:

  • Education: minimum bachelor’s degree at a 4-year university or college in Construction Management, Architecture, or Engineering or a related field is desired. A combination of a Bachelor’s degree and related work experience will also be considered in lieu of related field degree.
  • Experience: 3 or more years of experience as a general superintendent (not an area superintendent) for a general contractor on similar size and scale commercial projects.
  • Software skills desired: Procore, Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Project, Acrobat, Bluebeam

  • Salary competitive, commensurate with experience. Starting at $130k/yr and up, DOE.

Commercial Construction Project Manager

The Essentials:

ACG Builds, a mid-size general contractor specializing in mixed-use, apartment, tenant improvement, and senior living projects, is looking for a Senior Project Manager that can manage construction of large multi-family apartment buildings of around 250 units. Come join a young and fun company that gets to build some special and unique projects!

We Need Your Skills:

  • You have strong phone skills to communicate with subs and vendors. Be able to use the right balance between getting quick information by phone versus less timely bulk information transfers by email.
  • You are a results-oriented PM with strong directional skills to actively run meetings and command teams of people and make things happen.
  • Be a master motivator at getting things you need from subs when you need it. If you find yourself saying, “I’m still waiting to hear from so and so”, then this job will be challenging.
  • You are a get-it-done person, and know how to be resourceful and quick thinking when labor or material conditions unexpectedly change.
  • Manage the Superintendent and keep materials flowing to him while walking the job as needed to ask questions and make sure the project is getting built with good quality and on schedule
  • You know how to balance the necessary in-person time with your teams and necessary office computer time.
  • Work with owners and owners’ reps on issues, specification clarifications, and changes and write change orders as scope changes or items are added to the projects
  • Knowledgeable in building the building and general building assemblies, processes, and equipment to make sure the people actually doing the work are doing it right with the right means and methods.
    • Procure bids from subcontractors for parts and pieces on your project as necessary and vet bids for scope inclusions, exclusions, or gaps against project plans and specifications
  • Execute subcontracts with subcontractors and vendors while holding them to schedules
  • Create, publish, and update schedules in MS Project
  • Review shop drawings against plans and work with vendors to make revisions
  • Put together submittals for materials to architects or owners and be able to mark these up in Adobe Acrobat or Blue Beam.

CONSTRUCTION PROJECT ENGINEER

We’re seeking an energetic Project Engineer to join our team on commercial projects such as office buildings, retail, restaurants, multi-family, apartments, tenant improvements, education, and senior living communities. This position supports a Project Manager and/or Superintendent. You will be highly organized, very detail oriented, a positively motivated self-starter, and dependable.

What You Need:

  • At least 1 year experience in some capacity as a Project Engineer.
  • A construction management degree or similar education from a 4 year university.
  • Complete knowledge of plan reading, shop drawing and specification review.
  • Excellent communication and ability to work as a team.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with the owners, managers, engineers, subcontractors, municipal authorities and all others involved in projects.
  • Have familiarity of all project plans, specifications, contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, drawings, submittals, and otherwise all correspondence and project related documents.
  • Computer skills- proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, Procore, and Blue Beam.
  • Past experience on multi-level structures desired.

You Got This:

  • Assist Superintendent and Project Manager with the overall plan for construction of a project, including scheduling and construction progress in order to complete construction projects within time limits.
  • Report to Project Manager each week on project progress.
  • Issue requests for proposals: send site plans and contractor documents to acquire subcontractor bids.
  • Conduct subcontractor meetings and/or site walk-throughs.
  • Review subcontractor proposals; summarize and negotiate bids if needed.
  • Prepare, review, and hand out submittals and shop drawings.
  • Prepare and keep up RFI and submittal logs.
  • Maintain and update project Punch Lists.
  • Contribute to job site quality control with the Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Maintain plans, specifications, and as-builts at the job site.
  • Safety monitoring.

Payday and Bene’s:

  • Salary: $72,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year D.O.E.
